THE ROLE
As a key member of the Finance team, the Junior Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly and annual financial information as well as periodic government reporting.
Reports to: Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analysis and recording of revenue from Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
- Preparation of all Ministry reporting.
- Preparation and submission of periodic government reports on a timely basis.
- Calculation and recording of expenses and payroll accruals and allocations as necessary.
- Preparation and recording of payroll journal entries.
- Issues payments by processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
- Communication with accounting and administrative personnel at homes regarding accounting issues.
- Regular review and analysis of balance sheet amounts.
- Preparation of other month end adjusting journal entries.
- Preparation of schedules for the year-end audit.
- Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- College or university education in accounting or related area
- Possesses strong computer and technology skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Superior organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect the integrity of financial documents.
- Ability to work in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
